Sde Boker Area - Maale Tsin and Ein Ovdat

Participants: Anna, Adi, Ayala, Ilya.(Hey! I'm the only one with a name that doesn't start with A! :) )
This was a night trek and a morning trek. As it is quite hot a season for anything in daytime in the desert, we planned to do something in the night. We arrive around 7:30 pm at Midreshet Sde-Boker, had a supper, got organized, and were out approximately at 9 pm to the (green marked) path. An expedition determined the beginning of the black path before the fall of the dark, so that wasn't a problem to find. After that we began walking along it, and quickly found out that it follows a small fence on its left.
Went on till the intersection with the blue path
and that's where we had to apply our navigation skills to find the path and marking stones, since it was a jeep trail - which means in the night, unlike in the day, that it's harder to find, and slower going because you have to hunt for stones which are much scarcer than on a real trail. Obviously the first try went bad, and after around 300 meters we decided to try again, and found another part of the black path. After a short thought, we decided to go back a little on the black trail to where the blue one split, and not to do it in the reverse order of what was planned. Went back, tried again with a little more use of compass, and checking of directions of stones, and found the continuation of the blue path. After a short while it began to be clear where it is going, and some parts also had a fence on one side or the other, so it wasn't very big a deal. Though, we still had to keep tight with the map, so we'd know where to go.
One of the problems which we had with it, is that the moon didn't want to rise, like planned, and we had to go in almost complete darkness, instead of lighting of an almost full moon. The big advantage of a moonless night is the quantity of stars you can see. So, we had several astronomical discussions on the way.
When we reached the beginning of the trail(and not a jeep road) the moon decided to rise, and the walking became much easier and more fun. After a short break on the point-of-view, which is quite an amazing site in the night. We went on. There I made an amazing discovery - Bazelet stones(I don't know the English name) sparkle if you throw them one on another! It was really fun to discover that, I think I will research that subject further.
We've finished that trail without any further complications, and had a little boring but fast walk on the jeep trail back. I can say that it's a very pretty trail at night with many color combinations, not long and not very hard.
After getting some sleep, in the morning we've made the Ein Ovdat trail. Which is paid, but not expensive short, and nice trail. Which is good if you have a spare 1/2 an hour that you don't know what to do with. After that we said good-bye to the area and went home. :)
